Education is the main and a sacred responsibility of any modern society or country. Through proper education, empowerment of youth is possible.
Realising this, in the year 1998, the members of the Kodava Samaj, stood together to start an educational institution par excellence in Madikeri. The budding institution took shape near Omkareshwar Temple. True to the Kodava spirit, the school is named after the great son of the soil, a true valiant soldier, a star of our country Padmabhusan General Thimayya.
The school started in the year 1998 in a very humble way with lower classes LKG, UKG and 1 std and with 3 teachers. Encouragement was received from all possible sides. Like minded people, well wishers and philanthropists, contributed for the growth of General Thimayya Public School.
The increase in students strength, necessitated the set-up of buildings and infrastructure. The gradual progress began to happen.
The academic year 2002-03 saw its High school section with the commencement of class VIII and its 10 students. The first batch of students of S.S.L.C passed out in the year 2004-05 with 100% pass out result. It is rightly said, “well begun is half done”. So also with our school, because there is no looking back in the matter of results. The quality in results is being maintained . With a thought for centralized syllabus, the school switched on to the ICSE pattern of education in the year 2007-08, nine batches of ICSE have passed out with 100% results and brilliant individual performances.
The school has incorporated the modern technique in imparting quality teaching. Also steps for a holistic development of personality are inherent in our value based education.
